As promised by Margaret, here is a taste of the amazing treehouse we are staying in during our Punta Uva stint. The staff are just delightful; the grounds are incredible - a little forest right on the beach; and the treehouse itself is an absolute adventure!

The only parts of the house that are enclosed are the two bedrooms - and mine isn’t fully enclosed, with all the windows constituting netting only. One night rain pelted down and the lack of glass in the windows became apparent by a square metre wet patch on the floor. But luckily the inside rain was isolated to an area of no consequence. Of course, the only down side is when I hang out dry stuff to wear the next day, it’s damp by the time I get up, even if the actual rain doesn’t get in!

We have had a regular visitor in the resort cat who insists on trying to trip us over in his desperate need for attention. He tries to dive into Margaret’s room every time the door is opened, and delivers increasingly frenzied and insistent meows at us any time the fridge door cracks open or we go to bed and leave him to his own devices. I mean, standing outside the bedroom door yelling meow.
Little agoutis often appear in our yard, and tonight while Margaret was in her room packing her bag and I was looking at photos in the lounge, I looked up to find 2 sizeable raccoons traipsing through the living area - less than 1 metre from me and with a good deal of confidence.

It rained 2 nights in a row, forcefully enough the 2nd night that the howler monkeys were strenuously objecting, so I reckon much of the place, easily accessible as it is, looks like a pretty good refuge in such weather. I often fancy I will come down the hanging bridges from my room to find some monkeys in the spa and the hammock; and some raccoons playing cards with an agouti and the cat in the lounge and rocking chairs (which are heavenly, by the way).
